The future of Czech industry does not start in production halls. It starts at school.
In August, KLV Group a.s. started working with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Liberec.
I did not want this to be just another formal partnership between a company and a university. I wanted a cooperation that brings real benefits to students, academia and industry.
In our discussions we came to one important issue. Students often have limited opportunities to get directly into manufacturing companies, so their bachelor’s and master’s theses are sometimes written without enough contact with real industrial practice.
That is exactly what we want to change.
I believe a student gains much more from working on a topic based on a real technical problem of a specific manufacturer. When they can see the environment where the problem arises, work with real samples and discuss their findings with industry experts, their work takes on a completely different dimension.
That is why we have offered students specific bachelor’s and master’s thesis topics from our field. We will provide material samples, expert consultations and, above all, a link to industrial practice.
We want to be the bridge between the student, academia and the manufacturer, and to offer each student an expert consultant who will guide them through the problem.
We have also already started cooperating on material testing and sample analysis. But our ambitions do not end there.
Together with the university we are preparing a project to bring young people closer to the world of engineering and the railway industry. I would like to gradually involve our business partners and other manufacturers too, and in the future extend the initiative to secondary schools.
We cannot just wait for schools to train new specialists for us. We have to take part in their education ourselves.
Linking technical education with everyday industrial practice is a topic I want to focus on much more intensively in the coming months. Not just talk about it, but above all show concrete results of our cooperation.
How does cooperation on bachelor’s and master’s thesis topics work in your company or school today? Do students have a real chance to get into production and work on concrete technical problems?
